wedding guest DRESSES

Wedding guest attire is honestly my least favorite type of clothing to shop for or recommend. And it isn’t just because I mostly wear white, and wearing white to a wedding is a faux pas. It’s the pressure. The formality. The potential for this outfit to have some negative effect on someone’s special day. The fact that this outfit will be immortalized in photos. The fact that the weather is unpredictable - well you can usually predict you’ll be hot in the day and cold at night. And good luck finding a jacket to coordinate with the dress you put so much thought into. And even though heels will make the look, they’ll also be sinking into the dirt at an outdoor wedding and your feet will hurt by the end of the night. Alas, this day is not about us, the overthinking guests, it is about the happy couple. So let’s start there. I tend to think there are two types of people whose wedding you’ll be attending. The type that leans in the “this is my moment. Don't you dare upstage me” direction and the type who leans in the “ this is my special day and you better not come half stepping” direction. Only you know the most appropriate and least impolite way to bring it for your situation. All I know is, here are 6 cute dresses for wedding guests which range from daytime-y to nighttime-y, beachy to somewhat formal, and not at all upstage-y or half-steppy. You will be able to celebrate your friends’ love in comfort, dance the night away, look cute in photos 20 years from now, and not warrant any side eye whatsoever.
